Students

Thesis

Students who want me to supervise their thesis should approach me well before any looming deadlines with proposal that outlines the following:

  1. What is the puzzle you are interested in
  2. Some possible answers to this puzzle
  3. The literature/debates you are interested in engaging with
  4. A tentative research design

Once I have had time to look over the materials and decide whether I would be a good fit, we can meet to discuss the project. Note: at the moment I do not supervise work in German.

Letters of recommendation

Strong letters of recommendation need specificity and a strong, enthusiastic argument. Most importantly, they demand time to carefully write them. You must notify me with at least two weeks of anticipation before the deadline. I would also need the following information:

  1. Your CV
  2. Information about the program/position you are applying to, including the letter deadline
  3. Your application or cover letter
  4. Any other information that will help me write the letter.

I always encourage my students to further pursue their studies or professional goals. I will gladly support you whenever I have the resources to do so.
